Special Stitches
Picot
Ch 3, hdc in 3rd ch from hook.
The General Plan
Working from inside the ball and the outside at the same time, work the two pieces of the scarf in tandem from the short end until the length is reached or until you run out of yarn. Work a picot edging as you go. Once the two pieces are complete, they will be sewn together at the center.
Right Scarf
Working from the inside of the skein or ball.
Row 1: (RS) Ch 13, dc in 4th ch from hook, [ch 2, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch] 2 times, dc in final ch, turn. Pm in a RS stitch to mark RS of right scarf.
Row 2: Picot (see Special Stitches), sc in each of next 2 dc, [ch 3, sk sc, sc in next dc] 2 times, sc in final dc, turn.
Row 3: Picot, dc in each of next 2 sc, [ch 2, sc in ch-3 sp, ch 2, dc in next sc] 2 times, dc in final sc, turn. Do not fasten off. Set aside.
Begin working Left Scarf. If necessary, place a locking stitch marker in the loop of the side that is not being worked.
